Carnie Wilson: Unstapled airs TONIGHT (1/14) on GSN

GSN is extending its honeymoon with Carnie Wilson, signing "The Newlywed Game" host to star in a reality show for the network.

In a move that represents a major brand expansion for GSN, Wilson will headline "Carnie Wilson: Unstapled," a docusoap revolving around the former pop star's current life as a gameshow host, media personality and wife/mother.

World of Wonder Prods. -- the red-hot production company behind "Million Dollar Listing," "Ru-Paul's Drag Race" and VH1's upcoming Fantasia Barrino series -- is producing "Unstapled." It's set to premiere Jan. 14, with Randy Barbato, Fenton Bailey and Tom Campbell serving as executive producers.

Wilson's weight issues will be part of the drama on "Unstapled," but the series will focus more on her role as a mom and aspiring businesswoman. Among Wilson's biggest passions: turning her love of baking into a money-making proposition.

"It's my passion and my outlet. It's something I have to do," Wilson told TheWrap. "I get bitchy if I don't feed people. I think it's about me living vicariously for them."

Wilson's efforts to expand her baking career into a bigger business will be chronicled on "Unstapled," as will her plans to launch a clothing line. Both ventures, along with a possible Wilson Phillips reunion tour timed to next year's 20th anniversary of the group, should provide plenty of fodder for the show.

Angie Stone's New Album "Unexpected" drops Nov 24th!

R&B Star's New Album is 2nd for Legendary Soul Label Stax Records

R&B/soul luminary Angie Stone has never shied away from pushing her own limits and the limits of her music. With each new recording, with each next step in her career, she has consistently hit the world with something it didn't see coming. Her new album, Unexpected, set for release on November 24th from Stax Records (a division of Concord Music Group), encompasses a diversity of styles and influences that Stone has distilled over the years – rap, R&B, soul, funk and more – and weaves them together in a narrative that addresses life's ups and downs, but ultimately strikes a redemptive chord.

"I wanted this album to be something different," says Stone, whose 2007 Stax debut, The Art of Love & War, was her first album to top Billboard's R&B/hip-hop chart. "I didn't want to make the kind of neo-soul record I had made in the past. That would have been repetitive."

But in the midst of mapping this new direction, Stone encountered a shock that even she didn't see coming. Mid-way through the recording process, her father – Stone's spiritual anchor and creative mentor since her childhood in South Carolina – passed away very suddenly. "It was totally unexpected," she says, "and that's where I came up with the title of the album. I really didn't think I could finish the project, because I was so grief stricken…I had to do a lot of the vocals a second time. I had to lean on my dad's wisdom and energy, and try to be open to what he would have wanted me to do in order to finish the songs. I can say that his spirit was literally there in the studio with me, and I'm grateful for that."

Out of this tragedy comes Unexpected, the next step forward for Stone, a stretch beyond whatever limits – real or perceived – she might have been facing when the project began. From the get-go, the quick and funky title track – with its backbeat inspired by Sly Stone's 1971 hit, "Family Affair" – warns the listener to "Prepare yourself for just about anything." Equally energetic is the album's first single, "I Ain't Hearin' U," a song that decries rumor and gossip. The track is co-written by vocalist and songwriter Juanita Wynn, Stone's collaborative partner for several years.

Da Brat Gets 3 Years for Assault

Hey Fam!

I just read this on AOL Black Voices....

Da Brat has joined a distinct group of black female rappers imprisoned.

Today, the rambunctious hip-hop lyricist and reality TV fixture was sentenced to three years in prison for striking a woman with a rum bottle at an Atlanta-area nightclub.

The Atlanta-Journal Constitution' reports that a DeKalb County judge also sentenced the 'That's What I'm Looking For' rapper, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, to seven years probation and 200 hours of community service.

The fateful incident occurred during a Jermaine Dupri-hosted Halloween party at Georgia-area nightclub Studio 72 on Oct. 31, 2007. The victim, a waitress at the club, had to be hospitalized after being struck by the rapstress, and Superior Court Judge Gail Flake said the woman suffered permanent facial scarring.

Da Brat and the victim had reportedly gotten into an altercation prior to the assault, police said at the time.

This sentence follows a string of other female rappers who have been imprisoned for assault and attempted manslaughter, including Lil' Kim, Foxy Brown and most recently Remy Ma.

You know what fam? For a change...I have absolutely nothing to say on this mess.

Let's hope time passes quickly for her in the joint.

An Intimate Evening with The Fantasy Master...G.L. Henderson

Hey Family!

Tonight night I attended the book launch/live reading of a new book by author GL Henderson called The Fantasy Master. The reading was held at TAJ on West 21st Street in Manhattan. Celebrity Fit Club's Harvey Walden IV & his lady love former American Idol Contestant Kimberly Clarke were the special guest hosts.......

Gregory L Henderson (GL). GL is an award-winning author and in his acclaimed work, The Fantasy Master, (TFM), he answers the question, "What price are you willing to pay to have a Fantasy? Are you willing to give up the love in your life for a temporary moment of pleasure?" The TFM, (238 pgs, tpb $17.95), kicks off a series of eleven novels-- including poetry and page turning short stories that leave you wanting more and more!

TFM covers a wide range of the human experience. From the mentality of an emotionally battered woman to the sensuous depths she experiences in her imagination and physical being. Henderson asks his readers to take a tour through the struggles and hardships of reality and bask in the fantasy of your wildest dreams; he even offers the opportunity to detour and get a second chance to rewrite history.GL was nominated for top new non-fiction author by the Charlotte’s Literary and Arts Awards and has been the opening act for the world famous comedy corner to promote his work. GL has also hosted fashion shows from Washington , D.C. , Columbia , SC , Charlotte , NC , Philadelphia and Pittsburg , PA . GL has been featured in local newspapers and has been showcased on news stations in Columbia , SC and Rochester , NY .

As a finalist for the Ebony Magazine’s Top-Rated Eligible Bachelor of 2006, GL has a lot to say on the topic of romance and relationships. Covering both the bachelor standpoint, and the feminine perspective, he gives us the privilege of others' experiences ... who dare to share. The emotional depth in his work personifies the accuracy and mystery required of such themes. The experiences of the human spirit are explained so eloquently and tastefully through the mind of this author, that you literally will be unable to put the book down!

G.L. is coming off a self titled national book tour, sponsored by the Oakley Corp. He is currently marketing TFM with another self titled unique book tour called “An Intimate Moment with G.L.” He is also marketing TFM on his website
www.glhenderson.net , and through merchandising; The Fantasy Master Love Basket, The Fantasy Master Relationship Love Game, t-shirts and his signature silk rose with The Official Scent of The Fantasy Master’s Cologne . His books are currently being distributed by Flawless Distribution Book Center.

Now, I don't know if any of you have ever been to Taj, but let me tell you that the place is very exotic and sexy....dimly lit....candles everywhere....it's absolutely beautiful and the perfect setting for reading erotica!

The tables were also covered in signature Fantasy Master Chocolate bars and the complimentary cocktails were provided by JC Jacques Cardin Cognac. These were new flavored cognacs and they were delicious (and I don't particularly care for cognac ya'll)....one was lavender, one was an apple flavor (that made a SCRUMPTIOUS martini) and then there was a plain one. They were all very smooth going down and the apple martini drink was so tasty you ALMOST forgot there was liquor in it!

I had arrived a little early so I took a moment to holler at GL, who I first met at the PrivacyWear clothing launch last year....he promised to give me an autographed book the next time I saw him - so I decided to come on down and hold him to his word. After chatting with him for awhile I stepped outside for some fresh air and I noticed a nice looking young man standing outside on his cell phone.....

When he finished his call, I told him that I though he was nice looking and we began talking....it was as he was talking that he began to SOUND familiar to me....I mean he looked slightly familiar to me but I tell you it was his VOICE that I really recognized....

I introduced myself and he told me his name was Kwame, as he talked some more it hit me why he was familiar to me..."I GOT IT!".... You were on "I Love New York 2"....right? He smiled and kept right on talking....lol...he was "IT" (you know the one who was having conversations er...By HIMSELF" on the "Air Cell Phone".....

He actually is really cute and very charismatic believe it or not, but that VOICE was just killing me...lol...we talked for a little while longer and then I told him I wanted to come back out and get a photo....so I ran into get my camera...I wasn't prepared for what I saw when I came back outside.....it was hysterical fam!!

The management asked him for ID when he got to the door and I am guessing he didn't have any so he showed them his:

EBT Benefit Card.....

I swear to ya'll I ain't lying....he was dead ass serious. It was funny as hell to me.

Cheezy From ILNY2

also showed up with a few friends in tow.

Anyway, I got my photos and shortly after Harvey & Kimberly arrived and the show began....I also ran into a friend of Mary Moore (my publicist) named Saan, I remembered Saan because he came and checked out one of my "Soul At Ceol's" nights. As we sat at the bar with our drinks the show began....it started off with a wonderful singer named Sophia (currently appearing in the Lion King on Broadway) who performed an original tune that I absolutely loved....

She was followed by a brief fashion show from models from Washington DC....cute show....needed a F.A.T. girl in it though.....

Up next were Harvey Walden IV & Kimberly Locke (who are totally in love with each other) who came up to say a few words and then introduce The Fantasy Master himself....

Which was followed by the live reading with GL (which I enjoyed but in a setting such as TAJ...I think I would have liked to see the juicier parts performed live) (hint-hint).

Hey! Did I say that the Fantasy Master has a killer smile? (Very Taye Diggs in How Stella Got Her Groove Back)....mmm...hmmm....dark chocolate, body to die for AND a smile that I am sure has melted many a heart!

Old School Hip Hop Pioneer Dana Dane closed out the show with some congratulatory words for GL and he spit a few bars for the crowd from "Nightmares of the Night".

As I sat at the bar (VIP was a little crowded for me) and chatted with Saan, Harvey came up to order some drinks and talked to us for a while....I found him to be incredibly handsome and not nearly as gruff as he appears to be on TV. He also told me his real feelings about Dustin Diamond and his behavior on Celebrity Fit Club (He REALLY wanted to jack him up but couldn't because he was still active in the military). He was sweet enough to pose for pictures and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to him.

Shortly after I hollered at Kimberly Locke for a moment (Home girl was wearing some kick Azz shoes!!!!) she was also very sweet and to watch the two of them together really made me wanna go....awwwwwwwwww......I wish them all the best!

G.L. (With yo' fine self...lol) thank you so much for inviting me, I had a wonderful time and I thank you for the book as well....lol....already started reading it.....will let you know my thoughts later....

Thanks for keeping me company Saan.

Oh yeah...and Skreech...lol...you KNOW got one coming right boo?.....
