Block Behind Apollo Co-Named James Brown Way

From Daily Intel....

Block Behind Apollo Co-Named James Brown Way
Papa's got a brand-new sign. The block behind the Apollo, where James Brown's early appearances spurred him to fame, has been co-named James Brown Way. It's part of a new law that will co-name streets around the city after great African-Americans, including Count Basie, Paul Robeson, and Marcus Garvey. And Billie Holiday and Shirley Chisholm, just in case you were thinking it's only a man's man's maaaaaaaaan's world.

Well it's about time....James Brown was the Godfather of Soul and the King of Harlem!! I hope Sammy Davis Jr. finally gets his props as well. My boy Carlton often tells the story of how he lived on 145th Street and there is not a single monument to him anywhere...and that's a shame.

“May today mark the beginning of many new joys and accomplishments... and a continuation of all of the good things that you have already achieved.”
