Jennifer Hudson, who is mourning the murders of her mother, brother and nephew, expressed thanks Thursday for her four Grammy nominations for her debut album.
"It's been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive 4 Grammy nominations is truly a blessing," she said in a statement. "I'm extremely honored and humbled by the nominations."
She is up for best R&B album for her self-titled album, best female R&B vocal performance, best R&B song for "Spotlight" and best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocals for her duet with American Idol champ Fantasia Barrino, "I'm His Only Woman."
The video for her next single, "If This Isn't Love," is set to premiere in January.
On the same day her nominations were announced, her estranged brother-in-law, William Balfour, was denied bail in the Chicago shooting deaths of her mother Darnell Donerson, 57, brother Jason Hudson, 29, and his own stepson, Julian King, 7.
"A successful person is a dreamer whom someone believed in."
