The hat that won't go away is coming back as a glitter-encrusted glass Christmas ornament. The workers hand-crafting it in Poland love it, says designer Curtis Posuniak -- unlike the casket he had them make a few years ago.
That piece confused them. With Aretha Franklin's hat, the only problem was that they tried to correct it.
As you'll recall from the presidential inauguration -- and the story in the New York Times and the TV coverage and the 5,000-plus orders and all the other commotion tied to Ms. Franklin's choice of headgear -- the bow on the hat slopes to the wearer's right.
The first prototype from the factory leveled it out. But that problem has been resolved, and a startlingly accurate and festive re-creation will be available at various locations come July.
