New Kirstie Alley reality show to debut on A&E in 2010

Kirstie Alley's weight loss and weight gain will be just one of the themes in an upcoming reality show.

(CNN) -- Kirstie Alley has always had a public battle with her weight, but next year, the actress will get real in a new way: in a reality television show on A&E.

The network has ordered 10 half-hour episodes of the as-yet-unnamed series that will open the once-private doors of the Emmy-winning actress's life, A&E announced Tuesday.

The reality series is scheduled to air in 2010 and will be produced by FremantleMedia, the hit-making minds behind "American Idol."

Over the 10 episodes, cameras will trail Alley as she juggles producing a feature film, sticking to a new weight-loss program and raising her two daughters True and Lillie, all while looking for love.

Although it's the first time Alley has laid her personal life bare on reality television, it's not the first time she's exposed her weighty issues to the world. She was a Jenny Craig spokeswoman for three years until 2007, dropping 75 pounds along the way. The actress stripped down to a bikini and a sarong to show off her success on "Oprah" in 2006.

Two years after she left the weight-loss company, Alley had regained the 75 pounds she lost, plus an additional 10. "I just sort of went wild," the actress admitted to People magazine in May.
