"When asked if (s)he'll participate in Fashion Week, RuPaul replied, "I don't. I cannot stand the people. I think the fashion people are so nasty and so pretentious. One thing that I am not is pretentious and I cannot stand pretentious people. I love fashion, love color, love texture, love all of that. But all of the people who surround that are rot-ten."
Season two ofRuPaul's Drag Race premieres on February 1.
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Grammy-winning R&B singer Etta James has been hospitalized for about a week near her Southern California home for treatment of various ailments, including a bloodstream infection, her son said on Friday.
The 72-year-old recording star, best known for her bluesy hit ballad "At Last," grew ill after entering a detoxification center a month ago for treatment of an addiction to painkillers and over-the-counter medicine, Donto James told Reuters.
As her condition worsened, she was moved to a nursing facility, and then to Riverside Community Hospital, near her home east of Los Angeles, he said.
"She's been in a pretty big battle," said Donto James, her eldest son.
The performer is being treated for a number of ailments, including sepsis, a potentially fatal infection spread through the bloodstream, which in her case is believed to have started from a urinary tract infection, her son said.

Word on the street is that the family of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has agreed to allow "Precious" director, Lee Daniels, to shoot the biopic of their father's life story.
Right now Lee Daniels is THE DIRECTOR that every actor & actress in the world (including myself) wants to work with, and I personally think he'll do an excellent job of telling the story of this most important black man.
Folks are all up in arms because they fear that Daniels will air Dr. King's dirty laundry by filming a scene with him that involves a prostitute. Daniels is currently reviewing the script and vows that he won't be shooting that scene because it "isn't necessary".
He also states "This project is still in an embryonic stage, but I can tell you my story focuses on the civil rights marches. It's not about tapes and prostitutes. It's about the African-American man who changed history."

"It's not about size or weight....it's about style!" - Gayla Bentley
Who's doing what:
•Plus-size designer Gayla Bentley persuaded clothing manufacturer Daymond John and real estate magnate Barbara Corcoran to invest $250,000 for 50% of her company on ABC's Shark Tank in October. Her size 2 to 28 label will be in Von Maur department stores starting this spring, and she expects to announce another deal with a major department store any day. Bentley, whose clothes are already sold at many boutiques, NeimanMarcus.com and GaylaBentley.com, says she also has a deal in the works with a home shopping channel.
•Torrid, owned by Hot Topic, had double-digit growth in its online sales in the fiscal year that ends Jan. 30. The site sells sizes larger than the size 12 to 26 options in stores. Torrid President Chris Daniel says the brand caters to young, "curvy fashionistas" and has the "if you've got it, flaunt it mentality."
•Abby Zeichner, owner of the size 2 to 24 fashion line Abby Z., is now selling her fashions on the online and TV shopping channel HSN and hosts her third shopping special on Feb. 9. Zeichner, who wears a size 16, laments that larger women seeking high-end designers are "lucky if there's a size 12," the others are "skinny-only."
Stores often only buy one of each of the small and larger sizes in her lines, Freeman says, and two of sizes 8 and 10. But she says it's her smallest and largest sizes that sell out first. Store sales clerks complain that they don't have enough 12s, 14s or 16s, Freeman says, "but we don't make up the ratio of what they carry."
