President Obama Selects Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court

Today is a historic moment for America and for a great day for the Curvy Girl Nation....

President Barack Obama named federal Court of Appeals Judge and Curvaceous South Bronx Latina Sonia Sotomayor to the supreme court.....read on fam:

Maria Colvin couldn't believe what she'd just heard on her TV set at the Bronxdale Houses on Watson Ave. - the same South Bronx public housing project where Sonia Sotomayor grew up.

Several miles away in his downtown Manhattan office, civil rights lawyer Cesar Perales was in tears.

All across the nation, Latinos were ecstatic after learning that President Obama had named federal Court of Appeals Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. Senate approval would make her the first Hispanic to serve on the high court.

More importantly, Obama made clear that Sotomayor has more experience as a federal district and appellate court judge than any current member of the high court had when appointed.

Tamar Poyser Wins Rachel Ray's "Hey Can You Cook 4"

Morning fam.....

I know this particular announcement is a little late....but after a bit of searching I managed to finally find out the outcome of the "Hey Can You Cook 4" food challenge on Rachel Ray.

I was watching this show live last week when the last few minutes (the outcome...lol) got pre-empted by Mayor Bloomberg's Swine Flu in NYC Alert.

Well I checked the website this morning and found out that Brooklynite Tamar Poyser emerged victorious and won a trip to Tuscany...(Whew!!! I am SO jealous!!!)

Wow fam....I am not really sure what was on J. Hud's or her stylist's mind, when she picked out this absolutely HORRID outfit for her Today Show performance from The Plaza at Rockefeller Center this past Monday.

If that's not a pregnancy hiding outfit....I don't know what is.

Her nose is spreading....check the pic closely....lol...that's ALWAYS the tip-off for me.

Hopefully, she (or her people) will NOT slip like this again.....so I'mma give her a pass this go round...

Queen Latifah to Perform on America Idol?

Word on the street is that Queen Latifah will be performing on the Finale of American Idol on Wednesday night.

Memories of Mallomars & Madison Avenue

You know every time I hang out with my homie Deb, something will happen at her house that will jog some long lost memory of mine from childhood.

This weeks visit was no different, in the midst of my visit my girl pulled out a box of Nabisco Mallomars....

I have not had a Mallomar since I was a young girl....my cousin Carl and I used to eat them ALL the time (I seem to recall that Nabisco or another company had a sister cookie that had a marshmallow center and two vanilla cookies....I can't remember what they were called but Carl LOVED those and I was (and am still) a chocolate fiend...).

I took one bite of that wonderful dark chocolate/marshmallow/cookie goodness and it was so yummy that I was immediately transported back to basement of 48 East 129th Street between Madison & Park Avenues; where Carl & I swung on the pipes and played in the coal pile for fun and ate ketchup & mayonnaise sandwiches because they were DELICIOUS!!!....lol...(yeah...I KNOW...I'm trippin')...

But this is what happens whenever I hang at Deb's house.

You know usually when I get a craving for something from my youth (Spam, Pink Champale, Spiced Ham & Cheese sandwiches, Yodels...etc) I am THOROUGHLY disappointed, they're usually loaded with so many chemicals that it's disgusting and it NEVER tastes quite like they did back then. But with the Mallomars they were so good that she had to take the box away from me....just like I remembered...

Needless to say I'mma be on the hunt for a few boxes soon.....

Are Americans Too Fat to Serve Our Country?

With two wars dragging on in perpetuity, the U.S. Military is starved for recruits. Potential recruits, on the other hand, are not starved at all. In fact, one in five military-age Americans are too fat to serve.

And considering the Army allows 26 percent body fat for men and even more for women, this isn't "too fat to be an underwear model" fat, this is "have to buy two seats on an airplane" fat.

The military is doing all it can to slim the waistlines of the robust recruits, including playing the role of personal trainer to help them reach an acceptable rate. But at this rate, is the Pentagon going to have to develop new combat techniques based on sitting on the bad guys?
