Y'Anna Crawley wins BET's 'Sunday Best'

For weeks, it appeared that Michigan's Jessica Reedy seemed to be the likely favorite to win BET's "Sunday Best," an "American Idol"-like competition.

But the public vote (through emails and calls) proved something different. On Sunday, Y'Anna Crawley of Mount Rainier, Md., was crowned the winner of the 10-week popular gospel show in its second season.

Crawley, 32, won a national recording contract and a 2009 Lincoln MKS.

Crawley performed "The Promise," a song written by Lou "Buster" Brown, Scott "Shavoni" Parker and Ryan Sims on the season finale. This song will also be her first single on her debut project, according to BET.

Aretha gives the cast of Hair a very special Treat!

Check out this item about MY Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin from The NY Post's Page Six Column....

Page Six Photo

May 12, 2009 --

ARETHA Franklin is one gracious host. The Queen of Soul, who doesn't move too well these days, declined to go back stage after seeing "Hair" on Mother's Day, but she gladly met the cast who came in costume to see her in her fifth-row seat after the show. After 10 minutes of schmoozing, Franklin decided to extend the meet and greet by inviting every one back to her hotel suite for cocktails.

Jennifer Hudson Covers Essence Magazine

Jennifer Hudson appears on cover of the upcoming issue of Essence Magazine looking absolutely stunning. While she's definitely got a certain "glow" these days her camp has vehemently denied rumors that Hudson is pregnant.

Last month Hudson turned the tables on fiance David Otunga on his birthday with a proposal and engagement ring of her own. It was more of a symbolic gesture, since Hudson already accepted Otunga's proposal five months ago on her 27th birthday. According to People magazine the ring Hudson selected was a personally designed 5 carat Neil Lane engagement ring.
"Jennifer wanted to give him something really special when she asked David to marry her," says Lane, who worked with Hudson for months to design the ring.
"It was very sentimental and romantic ... They are really in love."
Any thoughts about her proposing and getting her Boo a ring fam?
