NEW YORK (CNN) -- While companies across the country are downsizing, some in the fashion world have decided that it's time for a bit of upsizing. This spring, the cheap chic emporiums, Target and Forever 21, will launch plus-size lines for teenagers.
Forever 21's line, Faith 21, will have sizes ranging from XL-2X, while Target's Pure Energy line will go up to a size 30.
It's about time, said several shoppers scouring the crowded racks of a Forever 21 branch in downtown Manhattan, New York, one recent afternoon.
"I would love to be able to shop in one store with my friends that are all different sizes," said one young petite college student, who was eyeing the $2.50 tank tops. "I think it's great that they're expanding."
Another shopper, a full-figured teen in a stylish baby doll dress, was also excited. "I tried on something earlier that was totally cute and it did not fit my breast size, which is really frustrating, because I liked it." Watch two reactions to the new lines »
Faith 21 will feature of-the-moment pieces like sheer peasant blouses, denim leggings and curve-hugging mini dresses. Pure Energy will have skinny jeans, maxi dresses and sleeveless party tops.

It's always unfortunate when good entertainers hire a bad publicist!
Such is the case with 'American Idol' season six finalist Lakisha Jones.
Last Monday, March 23, I contacted Jones' "urban publicist" Denise McIver to seek comment about the 29-year-old singer's pregnancy with the intent to break the news simultaneously on AOL Black Voices and during my segment on the nationally syndicated 'Tom Joyner Morning Show.'
McIver immediately told me that she'd "have to call me back" and moments later, I received a call from Jones' "mainstream publicist" Jay Schwartz of JDS PR instead (see photo); a fast-talking, unprincipled publicist who attempted to charm me by reminding me of the time he patched in a phone interview with me and Gladys Knight.
Schwartz then asked me if I would hold the news I had on Jones "because they weren't ready for the news to come out."
I denied his request and he clearly wasn't happy. He then tried to run the standard public relations game on me until he realized that I was no easy customer and had no intentions of changing my mind.

Ann Nesby has been on a whirlwind promotional tour to roll out her latest CD, 'The Lula Lee Project.'
In between promo stops in
Nesby, the former lead vocalist of Sounds of Blackness, believes her urban inspirational CD offers encouragement for the troubled times our country is facing.
"This album provides answers to where to find relief, shelter and confirmation that everything will be all right when you trust God. As Christians, we shouldn't be worried by the economic situation if we live by the seedtime and harvest principle: God is our provider," she said.

"Practically everyone has known the taste of Palm Sunday, the sweetness of success and popularity, and nearly all of us have tasted the bitterness of Good Friday, of failure and rejection. What saves us from an endless round of ups and downs, what frees us from the tyranny of events over which we have no control is our commitment to press forward in obedience to God -it is trust in God's love to bring about Easter morning, - knowing that the meaning of life is to be found in the knowledge and love of God,- and in sharing that knowledge and love with those who accompany us on the way. "

Jennifer Hudson is rocking the cover of the upcoming Entertainment Weekly hitting stands April 6th:
On feeling “the church” while singing: “In church we call that the Anointing, that’s what you’re feeling. Music is my home. When I’m trying to find my inner peace, when it seems like everything is overwhelming, I put music in my ears…We were what you call ‘born in the church. I would go with my grandmother and my mom, and when I was little, I would fall asleep on their laps in the choir stand….The church has given me balance. Too often we look at things through human eyes. But when you look at the world spiritually, it makes far more sense. I don’t think I would be here without it.”
Jennifer’s Godmother Debra on Jennifer’s first time singing: She was less than a year old. She hadn’t said a word, and all of a sudden she hit this soprano note, such a beautiful, clear, high-pitched note. I jumped up and ran to the front of the church and said, ‘This baby’s going to sing!’”
Jennifer’s manager Walt on how they got to where they are: “I would take her to the gay clubs and they would have these talent competitions mainly for drag queens, and I would put Jennifer in them as the only real female. And she would win all the time and take all those drag queens’ money. They were so mad!

Mom-to-be awaits delivery of first child
Three-time Grammy-winning singer Jill Scott is counting down the days before she gets to lay eyes on what she calls her most precious “gift” yet. The soon-to-be-mom, whose due date is April 25, looks forward to her little one, since past doctors told her that she was unable to conceive. “He’s my little warrior,” Scott told Jet magazine. “So far, he’s been to Africa with me, he’s worked in extreme heat and during 14-15 hour days. He’s hung in there with me through this whole thing and I just cannot get over it. This is incredible.”
If things had gone as intended, Scott would have married Lil’ John Roberts, 37, her band’s drummer, last month. The pregnancy, however, has since altered their plans. “We are just people, of course, so we have to deal with one thing at a time. We may get married. We may not. Who knows? We don’t. We’re just taking it as slow as we can.” (p. 36)

The show, which has already wrapped filming of its sixth season and will air this summer, had been in limbo after The Weinstein Co. -- producers of the Bravo hit -- signed a five-year deal with rival Lifetime last year.
Bravo owner, NBC Universal, filed a lawsuit Monday claiming that the Weinstein Co. breached the contract by not giving it the chance to match Lifetime's offer.

Queen Latifah, John Mayer, and pals from 'Sesame Street' in 'Coming Home: Military Families Cope With Change'
COMING HOME: MILITARY FAMILIES COPE WITH CHANGE Wednesday night at 8, PBS
Elmo and some of his "Sesame Street" pals move to prime time Wednesday night with a special to help children understand that sometimes, when Daddy becomes a soldier, Daddy can come home hurt.
Presumably that's also true for Mommy if Mommy is a soldier, but all the wounded vets who join Queen Latifah for this serious but ultimately hopeful show Wednesday night happen to be men.
Put together by "Sesame Street" and David Letterman's production company, "Coming Home" is part of a wider campaign called "Talk, Listen, Connect." As the name suggests, it urges everyone to be open and honest about how they're affected by a life-changing injury in the family.
To punctuate the point, John Mayer does an acoustic performance of the theme song toward the end of Wednesday night's program.
"Coming Home" is similar to the Linda Ellerbee specials that break down complex, grownup issues into simple terms, with a sprinkling of actual kids and a general tone of reassurance.
The show features several soldiers who suffered severe injuries in Iraq and have returned to their families. Now they are adjusting to the new rules of their lives.
